Welcome to Medaguru’s WordPress Tutorials
See I just installed this site in less than ten minutes.
All I did was opened my webhosting control panel, created a MySQL database then clicked the The Elefante Installer to install WordPress and Presto it was up and running.

I will be creating video tutorials of a Word Press install and customizing. My tutorials will pertain mostly to Medaguru’s web hosting control panel but you can easily use the same info on Cpanel or most other hosts control panels.
And course I am for Hire. lol.

Templates Templates Templates
There are tons of free Word Press templates out there.
I have some here. http://www.medaguru.com/index.php/free-website-templates
For this WordPress install, I used a free template from Here actually I use Afterburner they have a version for both Word Press and Joomla. just in case you also have a Joomla site and want matching templates. Be sure to download the logo source .PNG file. You will need that. 
They have others that are free, but if you would like an extreme site template than take a look at their clubs. They have lots of cool stuff there!
Any how;
We are going to install Afterburner on Word Press,
Click on Appearance, on the top of the page you see
Manage Themes
click “Add New”, then browse for the template zip file you just downloaded after uploading click “activate”
now the site looks a little different!
Now we need to change that logo open the source PNG file you downloaded, open it in your favorite editor. I have tried almost all and still use most from time to time. But my preference is and old version of Fireworks at the time it was by Macromedia but any program that can open a PNG with layers and frames will work.
Once it is open, you should see the frames of what color scheme that you can choose in the theme options under the Appearance Tab
Choose the corresponding frame. eg. I used “light3″ on this site. You now can choose any of the text or other elements and edit them to your likings. I of course can help you out if needed. That is always an option. lol.
Once your image is edited save it as the corresponding PNG in the templates image directory overwriting the default image. Upload it to your server and done like dinner. lol.
Next we get rid if the links.

Click “Links” and delete all those links you see, or replace them with your own.

Here is a nice little plugin to change the post order.
Click “Plugins” then “Add New” search for
Custom Post Order
click install.
then go to Settings , Custom Post Order.
Set it how you like.
